The Color Guard season starts in early August with pre-season practices on Wednesday evenings. Then, in late August we start Spat Camp; a ten day training period that teaches basic marching fundementals. Last year we welcomed 24 members, 14 vets and 10 rookies.  Regular rehearsals begin when the fall semester begins. Durning then, we practice with the band every M-TH 415-6 p.m. and on Wednesdays for our Guard sectional 7-9 pm.

The Color Guard is an essential part of the Univeristy of Minnesota Marching Band. We perform in all the Gopher home football games which includes pregame, halftime, and post game. We also perform in the Marching Band's annual Indoor Concert in which we have our own Color Guard feature.

The Color Guard uses mostly flag choreography with simple dance and body movements incorporated under it. We perform 3 to 4 rifle routines durningt the season, and also have a rifle section within the Indoor Concert feature.

At the preseason practices we will start teaching the school songs, so please join us if you are able to. It's a large commitment, but it's a great group of people. If you want to be a part of something great - join the Color Guard!
